On 12-13 May, the labour law reform in Europe was discussed by labour law experts from 18 European countries at the conference organized at the Ministry of Justice, and in the commemoration of the 375th anniversary of the founding of VU Faculty of Law.
Conference participants were welcomed by the Lithuanian Justice Minister Juozas Bernatonis, Vice-President of Seimas of Lithuania Algirdas Sysas, and Social Security and Labour Minister Algimanta Pabedinskienė. In the round table discussion on “Labour Law Reform: the Case of Lithuania” participated Vice-President of Seimas of Lithuania Algirdas Sysas, Labour Department Director Eglė Radišauskienė, Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation Chairman Artūras Černiauskas, Lithuanian Business Confederation President Valdas Sutkus, Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists President Robertas Dargis, and Investors’ forum Executive director Rūta Skyrienė.
During the event, Ipolitas Nekrošius – Professor Emeritus at VU Faculty of Law and the Father of Lithuanian Labour Law – was honoured on the occasion of his 80th anniversary. For his contribution to the preparation of specialists in labour law and to the current labour law reform, Nekrošius was awarded with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security Award “Kindness heart”.
