The event will contribute to the ongoing debate on the preparedness of constitutional orders to address emerging regional challenges to democracy and the rule of law. A central question is how democratic systems can and should respond to attempts to undermine or dismantle them. The global erosion of democracy not only coincides with but also is driven by unprecedented geopolitical pressures, including Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the increasing use of hybrid warfare targeting European states.
The discussion will examine constitutional resilience from a regional perspective, drawing on insights from the Baltic states and Poland. In addition, a guest from the United States will contribute comparative reflections on U.S. constitutional resilience.
