VU Faculty of Law team participated in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot

We are truly proud that the Vilnius University Faculty of Law team – Emilė Ieva Šapkauskaitė, Liudas Tauperis, Gabija Beglecovaitė, Deimena Špučytė and Karolis Valančius – has represented our university with distinction at one of the most prestigious international competitions for law students, the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, which took place in Vienna.

Often referred to as the Olympic Games for law students, the Vis Moot brings together the most talented future legal professionals from across the world. This year, the competition brought together around 400 teams, more than 1000 arbitrators, and over 2500 students who worked on complex issues in international commercial law and arbitration.
This achievement is the result of a rigorous seven-month preparation process. Throughout this period, the team drafted written memoranda for both Claimant and Respondent, engaged in numerous practice pleadings, and participated in pre-moots in Riga, Stockholm, and Bonn, continuously refining their arguments and advocacy skills. Throughout all these rounds, the students consistently developed their argumentation and public speaking skills, presented their positions orally, responded to questions from the arbitrators, and defended their legal arguments in a highly competitive international environment.
The team was prepared by the beloved coaches’ Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eglė Zemlytė, PhD candidate Vytautas Vaicekauskas, and Pooja Damodaran, whose continuous guidance, dedication and support were essential throughout the entire journey.
We are proud of our students’ dedication and professionalism, and we sincerely thank the team and their coaches for representing Vilnius University at such a high level in the international legal community.
