Assistant Professor Dr Inga Martinkutė Awarded Fernand Braudel Fellowship at the European University Institute

Law Faculty Assistant Professor Dr. Inga Martinkutė has been awarded a Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowship at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence under the EUI Widening Europe Programme.

The fellowship will enable Assist. Prof. Dr. Martinkutė to spend one month at the EUI in October 2026, where she will be affiliated with the Department of Law. During her stay, she has been invited to participate in the Department’s academic activities and to contribute her expertise and knowledge to the wider EUI academic community.

The Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowship is designed for established scholars to pursue research in the intellectually stimulating and international academic environment of the European University Institute and to engage with researchers across the EUI.

“I am delighted to join the European University Institute as a Fernand Braudel Senior Fellow. I look forward to using this period in Florence to concentrate on my research on artificial intelligence in public administration and engage with the wider EUI academic community. I am particularly looking forward to the opportunity for discussions on algorithmic decision-making in asylum cases.” − Asist. Prof. Dr. Inga Martinkutė

Participation in the EUI’s Widening Europe Programme will also help strengthen the VU Faculty of Law’s international academic ties and contribute to the closer integration of legal research conducted in Lithuania into the broader European academic community.
