The Faculty of Law of Vilnius University invites students to take part in the American Senior Lawyers Program lecture week, dedicated to an introduction to the legal and political system of the United States of America. The lectures will be delivered in English and are open to both Lithuanian and international students.
The lecture series will be taught by Robert M. Morgan, Esq., a U.S. attorney with more than 40 years of legal practice experience in the states of Florida and Washington. During the lectures, the speaker will share not only theoretical knowledge of U.S. constitutional law, but also practical insights into a legal career, professional choices, and real-life examples of the application of law. According to the lecturer, one of the most important lessons for young lawyers is to remain flexible and open-minded, as legal practice often develops very differently from what is initially envisioned at the beginning of one’s studies.
The lectures will take place from March 9 to March 13, 2026, at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, Room 302.
Lecture time is from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, except for March 12, when lectures will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
The course will cover the fundamentals of the U.S. Constitution, the principle of separation of powers, the functioning of Congress, the President, and the court system, as well as the protection of human rights as established in the constitutional amendments. Particular attention will be given to issues such as freedom of speech and of the press, reproductive rights, gun regulation, search and seizure, criminal justice, and the legal safeguards of democracy. Practical aspects will also be discussed, including working with U.S. companies and key legal and healthcare considerations when living in or visiting the United States.
Students who attend at least four lectures will receive a certificate of participation.
Participation is free of charge; however, registration is required.
