
The Council of the VU Law Faculty voted today on the appointment of a new dean. Prof. Dr Vigita Vėbraitė was elected. We congratulate the professor on this achievement!
Prof. Dr Vigita Vėbraitė actively participates in the activities of Vilnius University and other institutions. She has received two awards from the Ministry of Justice: in 2023, “For Merits in the Field of Human Rights,” and in 2025, the 1st degree Badge of Honor “For Merits to Justice.”
“My goal is to create an open, supportive, and trust-based academic environment where every member of the community – from students, lecturers, and administrative staff to professors, emeritus professors, and alumni – feels heard, valued, and needed. Such an environment is created through constant direct dialogue with the entire faculty community,” said the future dean when presenting her program of activities.
The professor highlighted four strategic areas of activity: community spirit, international-level studies, advanced and internationally visible science, the faculty’s influence in society, and partnerships.
Other candidates included Prof. Dr Jurgita Paužaitė-Kulvinskienė and Assoc. Pof. Dr Vaidotas A. Vaičaitis. During the council meeting, the candidates for the position of dean presented their action plans and answered questions.
The newly elected dean, Prof. Dr V. Vėbraitė, will take up her duties on March 19 this year.
