Discussion “Legal argumentation as a human practice: can AI-based systems create meaning for human beings?”

Could legal argumentation remain meaningful for human beings if it is increasingly assisted by AI-based systems? Does the judicial duty to provide reasons for decisions necessarily mean that the decision should be adopted by a limited human being? Would it be legitimate to sacrifice our shared cultural practice of creating meaning in legal contexts in exchange for more precise, potentially less biased, AI-based systems grounded decisions? These questions were discussed on September 25th with Dr Lyuben Todev (Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski) and Dr Donatas Murauskas (Vilnius University Law Faculty).
