Criminal Policy, sentencing, incarceration and probation, criminology, juvenile justice, protection of children’s rights.

 Education

  • 2005 acquired a Doctor of Law degree, Faculty of Law, Vilnius University and the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Greifswald University.
  • 2003 acquired a Master’s of Law degree and awarded LL.M. diploma, Faculty of Law and Political Science, University of Greifswald.

Main scientific and research projects

  • 2020-2022 group leader in the research group project “Reactions to juvenile delinquency and their consequences in Lithuania: from media hype to professional action” (No. S-MIP-20-367). The project was financed by the Lithuanian Science Council.
  • 2019 group leader, co-author and editor of the publication State dissemination of Lithuanian research in 2016-2024. in the program project “Prisonment conditions and prerequisites for social integration of prisoners” (registration no. P-LIP-19-80).
  • 2018 raising competence in a scientific internship in Greifswald at the university (Germany) according to the project “Pedophilia as a disease and as an incentive to commit crime” (09.3.3 LMT-K-712-07-0045), an analysis of scientific literature and statistics was carried out, a scientific article is being prepared, which will be published in 2023. The project was financed by the Lithuanian Science Council.

  • Since 2015 member of the editorial board of the scientific journal “Criminology Studies”.
  • Since 2015 member of the editorial board of the scientific journal “Nowa Kodifykacia Prawa Karnego” (Poland, Wrocław).

  • Since 2022 member of Lithuanian Council of Social Work.
  • Since 2016 associate member of the International Penal and Penitentiary Foundation (IPPF), French Fondation internationale pénale et pénitentiaire (FIPP).
  • 2015-2018 member of the prosecutors’ attestation commission.
  • Since 2010 member of the Association of Lithuanian Criminologists. In 2010-2012 and 2018-2021 – its chairman, 2014-2016 – Board member.
  • Since 2008 study quality assessment center expert.
  • Since 2007 expert of the Lithuanian Science Council.
