Ensuring Uniform Judicial Practice: Forms and Challenges | International Conference

4-5 September, an international conference “Ensuring Uniform Judicial Practice: Forms and Challenges” will take place at the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania.

The conference will feature an opening keynote by Prof. Habil. Dr Burkhard Hess. In the first part of the conference, Prof. Dr Margaret Y.K. Woo will address the role of precedents in the unification of the application of law. In the second part, Prof. Dr Bart Krans will present the preliminary ruling model in the Netherlands as a practical tool to ensure consistency in case law. In the third part, Prof. habil. Dr Aleš Galič will discuss alternative instruments for the unification of case law.

These presentations will serve as solid starting points for the following discussions, which will be attended by the Justices of the Supreme Courts, their Presidents, representatives of the Court of Justice of the European Union, and eminent Lithuanian and foreign legal scholars.

The conference is organised by the Supreme Court of Lithuania and the Vilnius University Law Faculty in cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, and the Baltic-American Freedom Foundation (BAFF).
