We kindly invite you to the lecture “The Crime of Aggression: from Definition in International Law to Prosecution as an International Crime” which will be held by Assoc. Prof. Marieke de Hoon and Lect. Dr. Gabija Grigaitė-Daugirdė.

Dr. Marieke de Hoon is Assistant Professor International Criminal Law at the University of Amsterdam; Appeals Prosecutor at the Dutch Public Prosecution Service; and Senior Counsel and Director Netherlands Office at the Public International Law & Policy Group (PILPG). Her research focuses on the challenges from a prosecutorial perspective in safeguarding fundamental criminal law principles when investigating and prosecuting international crimes in a radically changed investigations landscape due to technological developments and many new types of actors and new types of collaborations, such as with NGOs, evidence databases, the ICC and interstate-cooperation.

Dr. Gabija Grigaitė-Daugirdė is lecturer of international law related disciplines in the Law faculty of Vilnius university and deputy minister of justice of Lithuania, responsible for international accountability efforts undertaken by Lithuania in the context of aggression against Ukraine.
