Over the last couple of decades, the internet and social media have brought significant changes to the workplace. Employers and employees find each other online, and workforces are more mobile, diverse and dispersed. At the same time, the transition to an information economy has changed the nature of work. Companies make greater use of temporary workers and outsourcing. These changes have both increased the importance of identifying and protecting confidential information and made it more challenging to do so. This course will focus on the challenging legal issues accompanying these changes.

Visiting professor Lisa Renee Pomerantz has more than thirty years of legal and dispute resolution experience. Since 2003, Lisa has practiced law in Suffolk County. She works primarily with entrepreneurs on commercial and corporate matters involving customers, vendors and collaborators, and to resolve business and employment disputes amicably and cost-effectively.

Professor Pomerantz is a multiple award winning professional who recently was named among Long Island’s Top 50 Women by Long Island Business News.
