Germany’s ambassador to Lithuania Angelika Viets gave a lecture on populism in Europe

On the 12th of November Germany’s ambassador to Lithuania Angelika Viets visited VU Faculty of Law and gave lecture on “Symphony or March – which sound in Europe? Populism and right-wing political movements: Challenges in Germany and Europe”. It was ambassador’s first lecture in Lithuanian universities. During her speech ambassador expressed worries about rise of populism in Europe and its threats to the future of Europe. Ambassador Angelika Viets told that the situation is really challenging and next year’s elections of European Parliament will be very important to see which path will be chosen by the European citizens. Students asked questions regarding the role of Italian government to the populist movement in Europe and if it is still possible to anticipate the expansion of the European Union.
