The international competition of student research projects

 

Yaroslav Mudryі National Law University The Department of Criminal Law would like to invite you to participate in the international competition of student research projects.

The competition is invited to submit prepared research projects with the theme “Criminal legal reflections on current challenges of the time”. The competition is open to students (cadets) / female students (cadets) who, at the time of presentation of work, receive a higher education degree of Bachelor, Master in higher educational institutions of Ukraine, regardless of ownership and subordination, including foreigners and stateless persons who study at these institutions, students / female students of higher educational institutions in other countries.

The research work must be exploratory, include elements of scientific novelty and practical value, and have no awards for participation in other contests.

  • Works made in co-authorship are not allowed.
  • The length of the work must be reasonable to reflect the content, but may not be less than 10,000 and more than 80,000 printed characters without a list of references.
  • Research papers in Ukrainian or English language can be submitted to the Competition.
  • Scientific works should be prepared in accordance with the requirements: font Times New Roman, font size 14; line spacing 1.15; A4-size sheet with margins of 20 mm; paragraph indent – 10 mm.

Research work should contain the following elements (highlighted in the text):

  • statement of the problem;
  • an analysis of recent research and publications on the chosen issue, highlighting the problematic issues that the research has revealed;
  • The aim of the research;
  • The main material of the study;
  • Conclusions of the study;
  • list of references;

 

  • The first page of the paper contains only the title of the paper (in capital letters, bold font, centred alignment). The work itself should not contain any information about the author or any other information that would identify the author of the work.

On a separate file, the title of the paper submitted for the competition, the name of the author and his/her place of study should be indicated.

Basically, the material should contain references to the works of all authors that are mentioned in the list of references for the paper.

The deadline for receiving works is 15 March 2023.

All works are checked for plagiarism. When using borrowed sources, it is obligatory to cite them in square brackets, indicating the number of the source from the reference list and the page in it to which the reference is made. Independent works with a text uniqueness of not less than 75% are allowed to participate in the competition, provided they are properly cited and referenced.

The Competition Jury evaluates the submitted research projects through a double-blind peer-review process. The jury evaluates the relevance and novelty of the issues, the originality and practicality of the ideas, the research methods used and the results. The winners will be announced during the international scientific conference of undergraduate and postgraduate students Seventh Kharkov Readings in Criminal Law.

The authors of the best projects will be awarded medals in memory of distinguished professors from the Department of Criminal Law at the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.
