NOHA training in humanitarian Action

Short online course 23 – 25 May 2023

This year celebrating its 30th anniversary, NOHA is an international association of universities that aims to enhance professionalism in the humanitarian sector. Since 2012 Vilnius University, as a member of NOHA network, during the spring semester was organising a short in-class introductory course on humanitarian action. Due to pandemic we moved to the online platform and since 2021 in a partnership with the Lithuanian National Non-Governmental Development Cooperation Organisations’ Platform (LT NGDO Platform) online trainings annually are being organized.

This year, the short online course will be held 23 – 25 May. The course is aimed at civil servants, staff from local, international and civil society organizations, and more generally those who are involved in humanitarian action and feel the need to upgrade their basic knowledge and skills.

The participants of the course will study in the areas related to humanitarian activities. The training will include the lectures on Sphere standards in humanitarian response, religion implications, advocacy in humanitarian action, humanitarian negotiations and mediation, fundamental principles of inclusion and integration as well as global and regional displacement trends, it will also cover the current challenges in humanitarian aid, civil-military cooperation and the overview of the sexual and gender-based violence in humanitarian settings.
