Prof. Valentinas Mikelėnas was awarded with the prize for the development of legal science

Celebrating the Day of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania on February 16th, the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, presented state awards for merits to Lithuania and for promoting Lithuania’s name worldwide. We warmly congratulate Valentinas Mikelėnas, Professor of the Department of Private Law at the Vilnius University Law Faculty, who was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Grand Duke Gediminas Order of Lithuania for his work in the development of the Lithuanian private law system, the development of private law and civil procedure law.

This is not the first time that Prof. Habil. Dr. V. Mikelinas has been recognised for his work for Lithuania. In 2003, he was awarded the Medal of January 13th and the Cross of the Order “For Merit to Lithuania”. When asked what it means to him to contribute to the country’s well-being through his work, Professor stresses that the awards he has received are not only for him: “Firstly, it is an award for my family, without whom I would not have done this work. Secondly, it is an award for the staff of the Vilnius University Law Faculty, without whom I would not have done this work either“.

V. Mikelėnas wishes a lot of study and work to the young people who want to contribute to the development of legal science in Lithuania.
