The Spring of Law Science 2013

On 4-6 of February 2013, the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University started the new tradition – the cycle of events „The Spring of Law Science“, announcing the start of the new semester and the awakening of science.

The guests of the events had a possibility to meet and to listen the discussions of law professors from three universities – Vilnius University, Mykolas Romeris University and Vytautas Magnus University – and judges of the Supreme Court of Lithuania about relevant civil law issues.

The main focus of „The Spring of Law Science“ was the scientific conference on Private Law Research. During the conference topics such as contract law, the unity of the obligations of spouses, the separation of property law and law of obligations, regulation, etc. were discussed. In the ongoing discussions, issues of individual areas of private law were purified, options of their solutions were considered. The discussions were moderated by Prof. Dr (HP) Vytautas Mizaras, Prof. Habil. Dr Valentinas Mikelenas, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Algirdas Taminskas, Prof. Dr. Egidijus Baranauskas.

Also the annual Student Scientific Society Conference and round table discussion about lawyer education were held. Faculty students presented their individual research results to the academic community. Also, the Faculty’s Alumni Society awarded students with the Scholarships.

The discussion about a new description of the curriculum of law studies (what the law science should be, how it should be changed or what should be kept) was moderated by Dainius Radzevičius, the chairman of the Lithuanian Journalists’ Union.
