International conference “Security as the Purpose of Law”

On 9 April-10 October 2015, VU Faculty of Law organized the 3rd International Conference of PhD Students and Young Legal Researchers “Security as the Purpose of Law”.

The event gathered together PhD students and young legal researchers from the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, France, Russia, Hungary, Germany, and Ukraine to discuss individual, group and national security as one of the objectives of the regulation. Conference speakers analysed the topic in terms of different legal branches such as the theory of law, fundamental human rights and freedoms, criminal law, bioethics, social and labour law, etc.

The conference included a visit to the Lithuanian Police Forensic Science Centre where the conference participants learnt about forensic odorology research peculiarities in Lithuania.
