International Conference of PhD Students and Young Researchers “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Law (But Were Afraid to Ask)”

On 2nd – 3rd of June 2022 the 9th International Conference of PhD Students and Young Researchers “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Law (But Were Afraid to Ask)” took place at the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University. It is an annual event of International Network of Doctoral Network of Law. 

During the conference, speakers presented, analysed and debated a wide range of legal topics. In addition to PhD students from different countries, the conference was attended by renowned legal scholars and academics from the University of Lodz, Frankfurt am Main J. W. Goethe University, Paris Nanterre University and University of Graz.

The first day of the conference focused on the war in Ukraine and public law in the context of globalisation and digitisation. The conference was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University, Prof. Dr. Tomas Davulis, and the opening address was delivered by the Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, Dr. Gabija Grigaitė-Daugirdė. A total of 9 participants from 5 countries – Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, France and Germany – presented their papers on the first day of the conference. After the first day’s sessions, the conference guests were treated to a tour of the Central Campus of Vilnius University and a dinner in the Old Town of Vilnius.

The second day of the conference featured presentations on the COVID-19 pandemic and the law, private law in the context of globalisation and digitalisation, and various law and climate change issues. A total of 14 participants from 8 countries – Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, France, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Austria, Poland, France, Germany and Austria – presented their papers.
